I am a doctor.
I have spent over twenty-five years practicing clinical medicine.
I am double-boarded in obesity medicine and obstetrics and gynecology.
I know it’s cliche, but I love helping people.
I love walking alongside people as they navigate this messy, imperfect world.
I am an entrepreneur – a builder.
When I see a space and I can do something to fill it with something necessary and beautiful, I just can’t help myself.
In 2018, I built Kansas City’s first single-specialty, private practice, insurance-based obesity medicine clinic. While most private practice, non-surgical clinics were folding, it grew like wildfire.
Beginning in mid-2023, due to massive disruption in the insurance market, I transitioned Heartland Weight Loss from fully insurance to fully self-pay – which is where we are today. In the process of learning about and executing both models, I became obsessed with transforming the entire healthcare space.
I used to think the healthcare system was broken, but the more I’ve learned, the more I’ve realized that it’s not broken at all – it’s working exactly the way it was designed to work – to allow big business to profit from sickness.
I’m on a mission to help build something better.

I am a speaker.
I love talking about the things I’m passionate about.
I love sharing my knowledge with others.
love connecting dots.
I love watching people’s faces light up as they learn new concepts and integrate them into their mental framework.
I am a thought leader – and a bit of a disruptor.
I was practicing obesity medicine long before GLP-1s exploded on social media and have been using these medications in my clinical practice for many years – safely, ethically, and responsibly – as part of a comprehensive strategy.
I am constantly fighting against narratives created by big pharma and big insurance – narratives designed to capitalize on people living with excess weight – a vulnerable population that has been through enough.

I am a consultant.
I love applying my knowledge and experience to industries outside of traditional healthcare.
I am a voracious reader and I cast a wide net, learning from people in all disciplines – even those I disagree with.
I love pulling concepts and frameworks together and connecting the dots.
I believe we are so much stronger when we collaborate and put our brains together!
I am a human being working hard to live vibrantly and not overwork, which, for me, means limiting social media.
The only space online I frequent regularly is LinkedIn. I have built connections with a lot of amazing people from a wide variety of disciplines.
We may not always agree (and I might or might not poke the bear from time to time), but they make me think – which I believe to be a good thing.
If you aren’t ready to chat with me, connect with me there and let’s share some ideas!
